ANSI X12 837P - 4010 2310B PRV - Rendering Provider Specialty Information

Image Description

September 08, 2025

The PRV (Provider Information) segment in the 2310B loop of the X12 837 (4010) professional claim is used to convey the rendering (performing) provider’s specialty or taxonomy code. This information identifies the specific specialty of the provider who actually performed the services being billed.

The PRV segment is required. It must be included to identify the rendering provider’s taxonomy code. Payers use this information to validate network status, confirm benefit coverage, and apply specialty-specific claim adjudication rules.
